Khepera launches its website

You asked and we delivered! At long last, our website is
up and running and full of information about the African
experience and, in particular, what Khepera & Associates
is doing to promote and support it. Our site is complete
with information about our organization, our leaders and
our purpose and mission. In addition, we have a
media
section, which allows visitors to view and listen to
streaming video of presentations and speaking
engagements. Stay tuned to our website, as we will be
updating on a regular basis.
The significance of the launching of khepera.org on
August 17th, the birthday of the Honorable Marcus Mosiah
Garvey is not a coincidence. This great wazee (elder),
mwalimu (teacher), statesman, businessman and visionary
built his own “information highway” world-wide. We can
only hope to emulate his success in organizing and
informing African people world-wide so that we to can
contribute to our forward flow through time. “Look
For Me In The Whirlwind” is
where Garvey outlines his philosophy and inspires the
crowd not to lose faith despite the obstacles before
them. Let's join him in the whirlwind.

Harris organizes Hip Hop
workshop

Over 500 high
school students experienced a slice of hip-hop culture
during a school assembly held at Mose Vines Preparatory
Academy, 730 North Pulaski on Chicago’s west side, on May
21, 2007. Presented by the Chicago Council on Urban Affairs,
and organzied by Lance Williams (Know Thyself Program) & "Kwesi"
Ronald Harris (Khepera & Associates), the Hip-Hop
Workshop focused on the history of hip-hop music, compared
and contrasted the music’s early messages to current
messages, and presented several local rappers, spoken word
artists, and break dancers live to demonstrate their art
forms. The workshop was the Council’s first collaboration
with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS).

Mentors from
various professions, teachers from Mose Vines, several
student volunteers, and spoken word artists served as
facilitators during the scheduled breakout sessions that
allowed for student/mentor discussion, critique, and
analysis of images and messages the students see and hear on
a daily basis. To read the full article on the Hip Hop
workshop, click
